今日、外を　歩くと　たくさんの桜が　咲いていました。
桜が　咲くと、私は　いつも　もう一つの意味を　思い出します。

Walking outside today, I saw many cherry blossoms in bloom.

Whenever I see cherry blossoms in bloom, I am reminded of another meaning.

「サクラサク」を　調べると　２つの意味が　出てきます。
❶桜の花が咲くこと。開花（かいか）すること。
❷受験において、志望校に合格すること

"サクラサク" have two meanings.

1.To have cherry blossoms. To make flowers bloom.

2.To pass the school of your choice.

カタカナで　表現するのは、70年以上前に　流行った　電報（でんぽう）が　きっかけです。
大学受験に　合格したとき「合格しました」と直接　表現するのではなく、
「サクラサク（桜咲く）」と　表現しました。

The use of katakana began with telegrams, which became popular more than 70 years ago.

When a person passes the university entrance examination, instead of directly saying "I have passed," he or she says "サクラサク" which is a metaphor for his/her cherry blossoms are blooming.

逆に、大学受験に　失敗したときは
「サクラチル（桜散る）」と　表現するように　なりました。

On the other hand, when a person failed the university entrance exam to express this as "サクラチル" in Japanese katakana. This is a metaphor for his/her cherry blossoms have fallen from the tree.

最近では、大学受験のみならず、
目指していた資格試験に　合格したとき、嬉しいことが　あったときにも
「サクラサク！」と表現します。

Recently, not only for college entrance exams,

when you passed the certification exam you were aiming for or even you had a happy occasion,

you can express them as "サクラサク!".

私もよく使う「サクラサク」。
日本人は　あまり　直接的な　表現を　使わないので
こういう表現は　とても　使いやすいです。

I often use "サクラサク".

Japanese people are not very direct in their expressions.

So it's a very easy expression to use.

今日も　サクラサク日々で　いっぱいでありますように。
May today be a day filled with "サクラサク".
