Let's learn business idioms - Part 6

1.     Not going to fly – describe a solution that will not be effective.

2.     Off the top of one’s head - it means that the person gives a response without thinking about it much or doing any research on the subject.

3.     On the ball – to be alert and be aware of things.  E.g. My new assistant is very good.  She is really on the ball.

4.     On the same page - if 2 people are on the same page, it means they are in agreement about something.

5.     On top of something – to be in control of a situation and be aware of changes.

6.     On your toes – to be alert. E.g. Stay on your toes, anything can happen.

7.     Out in the open – to describe something that is public knowledge

8.     Out in the loop – means to not know something that a group of people know. (opposite of  “in the loop”.  E.g. I felt like I was out of the loop after being on vacation for 2 weeks.

9.     Pink skip – to give somebody the pink slip means to fire him.
