I thought of sharing this very interesting video, a Plenary by David Crystal. I found this talk to be quite interesting as it covers the standards of English, what it used to be and how the language has evolved over the years.

The video is an hour long though, so don't forget to make yourself a cuppa Joe, snuggle up and tune in! Just a little note if you encounter streaming issues, in my case the actual video of the speaker comes up a while later, maybe after the 35-second mark thereabouts but you should eventually get a video of the actual session.
