Trash or Treasure? English Idioms

Feb 24, 2017

Have you ever heard the phrase: “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”?

It is an English idiom that means that something that one person considers worthless may be considered valuable by someone else.

I have heard many people use this phrase while at a garage sale, where people sell unwanted items they no longer use out of their garage. Sometimes you can find really interesting things for very cheap. More than once I have bought furniture at a garage sale while in University. Many times, though, you can only find a lot of old junk. But as the saying goes, just because you think it is junk someone else might view it as a great find.
