Gerard Krasnopolski 講師的自我介紹
I'm a writer-teacher currently studying arts and literature at Oxford University. I received my first degree in English and History in 2017 before qualifying as a teacher. I have also studied Spanish for several years and taught in the Dominican Republic as a volunteer. At present, I am studying Japanese.
I love teaching and talking about language, literature, art, history, and philosophy. My teaching style is all about excitement, enthusiasm, and finding surprising connections between concepts. I use the personal connections that I build with students as part of a broader mnemonic attempt to build the creativity and capability of my students.
Sometimes, I might ask that students watch a particular film or listen to a particular song to help them get into the mood or mindset for a particular lesson. I have a blog for discussing film and am currently seeking a publisher for a novel revolving around cinematic themes. Films like 'Ikiru' and 'Tampopo' are excellent starting points for discussing Japanese culture, just as 'Citizen Kane' and 'Casablanca' are for American, and 'Brief Encounter' is for Britain.
I'm also enthusiastic about jazz and folk music; if you want to learn how to discuss music in English or Spanish, we can do that while listening to various tracks in class.
