Brent Chapman 講師的自我介紹
I am from Adelaide in South Australia where I live with my wife and three daughters.
Teaching History
I have taught English as a second language for more than 30 years, including almost ten years in various places in Japan, so I am fairly fluent in conversational Japanese. I have taught many different age groups, from young children to older retirees, and many different levels, from absolute beginners to university students who need help with academic writing. I have taught in schools, colleges and universities, and have done face-to-face classes, small groups, classes up to 30 or 40 students, online lessons, phone lessons and school of the air (radio lessons and distance learning).
Qualifications
I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree, a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, a Cambridge CELTA, various vocational teaching certificates, and I have studies TESOL at Master's level at UniSA.
Experience
I have a great wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to ESL, especially with students from Japan, which enables me to sensitively and effectively provide valuable and individually tailored lessons for my students. I am very willing and well-prepared to provide quality educational experiences for anyone wanting to learn English. In Australia I have taught in middle schools and high school, age group 11 to 17 year olds, and in private languages schools and university preparation colleges catering to overseas students, mainly young adults, who wish to learn English for further study and/or future career pathways. In Japan I have taught in English conversation schools, 英会話, and technical colleges, 高専, as well as, elementary schools, 小学校, and cram schools, 塾. In these contexts I have taught age groups from children as young as 3 or 4 years old up to retired adults in their 60s or 70s. These lessons were in private, 1-to-1 settings, small groups of 3 to 6 students, classrooms of up to 30 or 40 students, and I taught at the Japan Coast Guard School (海上保安学校) in Maizuru, Kyoto-fu.
