About Me

My name is Alwyn, and I come from Cape Town, South Africa however, I currently reside in Chengdu, China.

I enjoy hiking, composing music, watching a good movie, or taking my two energetic dogs out for a walk. I'm quite busy, so I don't get to do these things as often as I'd like to, but I do take every chance I get.


Another interest is learning new things and I often find myself reading about topics such as physics and astronomy. I find those topics extremely interesting.

I'm easy to have a good relationship with, patient, kind and friendly. I'm considerate while teaching and understand that learning a new language is difficult.

I encourage my students to keep trying and to not feel ashamed when they make a mistake during our lessons. It's through those mistakes that I can help you improve your English, and it's through those mistakes that you become stronger.

My teaching experiences

I have approximately 11 years of experience teaching English as a second language, both offline and online, and have helped many students reach their language goals.

Whether you want to learn English as a hobby, for an exam, a new job or because you're planning a trip abroad, I have a course that will suit your needs.

About my lessons

I offer extensive feedback after each class, which ensures you get as much information out of each lesson as possible.

I also offer (optionally) homework which you may complete in-between lessons to help cement the new language points we covered in our lessons. This is, as mentioned, entirely up to you.
 
Additionally, before our lessons start, I do a needs analysis to better understand your goals and requirement to ensure the correct lesson materials are used.

In other words, whether you're preparing for an interview for a job as a flight attendant, teacher, sales manager, or a CFO, my lessons and their content will be tailored to you and the specific job you're interviewing for.

  • Readers
  • Online articles
  • Audio/Video
  • Worksheets
I constantly look for useful material/content that my students might appreciate, and I'm open to suggestions. In other words, if there is specific content you'd like to use, we can do so.
