Due to the bad connection which seemed to be the problem on my side, it took minutes to start our decent conversation. We struggle with that, especially me, as I'm not tech-savvy. Rhys must have been frustrated, but he stayed patient and showed gentlemanly demeanor. I truly appreciate that. Also, I was quite happy that we were able to keep going with my other device. I took his lessons for two days in a row. Under the circumstances that both of us basically been self-quaranttined, it's almost impossible to find and share anything new and positive with each other. That said, it's so useful and enjoyable to listen to him about his daily life or tidbits of news in Canada. Sometimes I feel like as if I were talking to a younger acquaintance or neighbor on Skype. He never forgets to be professional now matter how many lessons we've ever had and no matter how much we open up and banter to one another. He always prepare for our lesson very well.

Thank you for the enjoyable lesson. In today’s lesson, we started our conversation about how customer services take measure against virus, country leaders’ behavior and reality shows. I tried to explain about a reality show that I watched over 30 years ago. Looking back it now, it was really simple harmless reality show. I hope I could share this feeling with Rhys.

This lesson is a more study-like lesson than just talking one. My daughter always enjoys this lesson, too.

Thank you for the useful lesson. I learned a new expression “ just as... as” in today’s lesson. When I struggled to find a good words to explain my thoughts, Rhys carefully asked what I wanted to say and suggested this expression. This lesson style suit to me. Thanks!

Thank you for the today’s lesson. Sometimes I feel I can speak English well, and the other time I feel I back to a beginner. I don’t know why, but in today’s lesson, I had a hard time to come up with right words to express my thoughts. Maybe because of topics, or because of my condition. But having said that, we could talked about many topics thanks to Rhys. Thank you!
Thank you for the very helpful feedback!

I talked to Rhys for the first time in a month. I often request a few things to do for one lesson.
Today’s lesson was just like a gift box with assorted cookies. After we caught up on each other’s lives&news, I asked him a few questions from the movie I watched and the book I’ve been reading. Then we played a word game. After that, we ran through a picture description quickly.Rhys is always generous to accept my random requests but I was afraid of my being acquisitive and I asked him too much for one lesson. However, Rhys kindly sent me a message which said he would be ready for all of them, so I felt reassured and looked forward to our lesson so much. It’s always pleasant to chat with Rhys, who is compassionate, reasonable and committed to his work.

Thank you for the today’s lesson! Just before this lesson started, I sent a flowers photo to Rhys and we started today’s lesson by talking about that flower. Its petals were really characteristics. It is hard to explain even in Japanese. So I thought it was good material for practicing speaking English. But in the end, I couldn’t find good way to explain what shape of the flower’s petals. These days, I have hard time to find new topics because I can’t go out and experience new things due to the coronavirus. Using picture might be good way to bring new topics.

Thank you for the enjoyable lesson! Today’s topics were a bit tough. It started about NHK podcast, we talked about how public broadcasting programs were seen by people, and about history revision, then about a false science. Although topics were difficult, I think I could speak better than my expectation thanks to Rhys.

Thank you for the enjoyable lesson! To express my feeling I used the term shallow. But Rhys said it sounded too negative for our topic. It was one of things I can’t learn from just dictionaries. I’m glad that I can learn nuances of words and expression on this lesson.
