Why do you need a tutor ? What is the tutor's job?

Mr Ian

In this day and age, with the abundance of free information available, why do we, the students, need a tutor?

The tutor's job is to understand where we are with our English, where we want to go with our English, and plan a series of small, easy steps that will get us there.

The tutor needs to motivate us and encourage us, to keep us interested, and to monitor our progress as we move towards our goal.

The journey to becoming proficient in another language is long, the path can be steep, a good tutor can keep us entertained and amused while we work to acquire the knowledge and skills needed.

Yes, we can do it on our own, but how many of us will find the required steps and motivation to get there?
