Nicholas Betts 讲师的个人介绍
My name is Nicholas, but please call me Nick (ニック). I'm 34 years old, and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have a certificate for teaching English to speakers of other languages (T.E.S.O.L), and I've had approximately one year's teaching experience in Japan and two years online.
Teaching English in Japan
I lived in Fukuoka, Japan for approximately one and a half years. During that time, I taught English at two different companies in Meinohama. My students were aged 3 to 60. We had lots of fun together, and I really enjoyed watching them improve. I became friends with many of my students, and we still keep in contact.
Life in Japan
Whilst living in Japan, I enjoyed studying Japanese and eating Fukuoka's famous ramen. I also enjoyed udon, yakitori, takoyaki, and sashimi. However, my favourite Japanese meal is a good chicken tempura set「鳥天定食」. : )
I really enjoyed exploring Fukuoka's city and rural areas, and I miss Fukuoka very much.
During my time in Japan, I also travelled to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Tokyo.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Japan, and I'm looking forward to the next time I go back.
Hobbies/Interests
I like movies, books and music. I love playing and listening to music. I play guitar and piano, and I enjoy many genres of music. I also enjoy travelling; I've travelled all around Australia, but I've also been to New Zealand, Canada, Nepal, India, Hawaii and Japan.
I also enjoy extreme sports; I like to go downhill-mountain-bike riding on the weekend, and I occasionally go snowboarding or surfing.
I also enjoy watching anime made by the film production company, Studio Ghibli; my favourite anime film is Spirited Away.
My Teaching Style
I really enjoy seeing the progress in my students, so
in our first lesson, I'll work hard to find out what your goals are, so we can begin working towards achieving them.
I'll be asking you lots of questions to get you talking, and I'll often correct your sentences to help you speak more naturally and fluently. (I also really like to help with improving pronunciation.)
My lessons are focussed on improving your confidence in speaking and listening, but we may occasionally do a litte work on your reading and writing.
Upon request, I can also help with vocabulary building, grammar, idioms and other areas.
