INTRO:

Hello Everyone! 皆さん、こんにちは！Hola a todos!
I am super excited to be here working with Cafetalk and helping you all learn or improve your English or Spanish, but first, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Garry,　日本語で、ガリです。Mi nombre es Garry. (Se pronuncia con el doble r) :) I am born and raised in the United States and lived most of my years in the state of New Jersey.  Currently I am living in the Big Apple, also known as New York City.  If you have never been to this great city then I suggest you add it to your "bucket list" as soon as possible. I am American by birth but born into a Latino family. My Mother is from Cuba and my father is from Peru, so I am also a native Spanish speaker.   Si quieren aprender hablar español, aquí estoy para servirle.  

一年ぐらい日本語を勉強していますので、日本語でも、少し説明できます。頑張ります。でも、できるだけ勉強している言語で、話したほうがいいと思いますよ。

I have always considered myself to be a student of life. I am always eager to learn and study new things.  I found Cafetalk because of this very reason. I am currently studying Japanese and I wanted to use online resources to help. I have always enjoyed learning new languages. I studied Italian and French in the past and now with Cafetalk I can practice them more. Now I hope to share my knowledge of English and Spanish with as many of you as possible and ultimately help you achieve your goals of speaking them better and more fluently.

  • USA - NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification
  • Master's Degree in Child Advocacy
  • Teacher of English as a Second Language (completing May 2018)
  • 2nd Master's Degree: Applied Linguistics (graduating Dec 2018)
My experiences in teaching comes from many different areas. I am a certified/licensed school teacher with a Degree in Science and a Masters Degree in Child Advocacy (Protecting and Defending Children's rights). I have taught English, Math, Science, History plus other subjects in elementary and middle school for over 4 years, back in 2007-2011.  My focus was with special needs children and developmental studies. Since before that time I have also been a Latin dance instructor. I have over 16 years of experience teaching Latin Dance to adults. So no worries, I have a lot of patience. :) In the past year I have also been teaching English and Spanish online as a private tutor.  I am also currently pursuing a 2nd Masters degree in Applied Linguistics with a certification in Teaching English to Foreign Language Speakers. I am hoping that working with many students here on Cafetalk will help me gain an understanding for the needs and interests of people actively learning a second (or more) language. 

I love to travel and visit beautiful places.

I am teacher in many aspects of my life, but above all I consider myself a student first. I really do believe in education but also, because of my experience taking classes, I understand how difficult it can be to learn a new subject, especially a new language. I have been there myself.  My goal here is to help you to become successful!!!

Whether you are just starting to learn English/Spanish or you are trying to improve your new language proficiency, regardless of your age, I will be there to help you get through the challenges that learning a new language can present. I can always provide materials and resources necessary to help you learn English/Spanish, but most importantly, I have the patience and desire to help you achieve your goal.  Together, we can do it! I look forward to meeting you all! :)

  • Cancellation possible at any time without charge.

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Less than 3hours before lesson start time.→ 100% of price charged.
  • Between 3-12hours before lesson start time.→ 50% of price charged.
  • No-Show→ 100% of price charged.
