About me:

Hey you, my name is Jeremiah and I am a native English speaker from South Africa. I enjoy personal development like it is ice-cream! It’s my favourite thing to do in the world. Which basically means, I am a gym-rat, reading nerd, morning-meditation part-time guru, anime-watching fanatic and a lover of people. I have an exciting obsession for wanting to realise financial and location freedom for my life by making a positive difference in people’s lives. So, if you enjoy some dialogue on self-improvement, chasing your goals and dreams, and how to make the world a better place than you are my kind of people J

 

Me as a Teacher:

I have a national diploma in Sport Management, a 120 hour TEFL certificate, and I’m in the process of acquiring my bachelors in Sport Management. I have worked as a student assistant at university level, as a coordinator of an experiential project for new graduates, and I’m currently in my fourth year as an Adidas Technical Representative. I have very limited experience as an actual teacher but I have been working in the service industry for over three years, and I have a year of experience directly helping students and lecturers in an academic capacity. I work hard, I listen and respond accordingly to people’s needs and interests (customer service experience has taught me that), I am polite and friendly in a genuine way because I enjoy talking to people and helping them. What you surely can expect from me is a genuine friendliness, a dedication to making sure you improve at your English by giving you the best teaching experience I can offer. What I lack in experience I will make up in effort.  

 

My Lessons & Teaching Style:

I taught a few lessons for free to find out my teaching style and this is the approach I took with my students – The first thing that I do is that I find out your needs and interests. Secondly, I determine your listening proficiency by seeing if you can understand me talk, and if I should slow down my speaking speed or speak faster to challenge your level of listening skills. Finally, we’ll jump into the fun work of getting good at English! Most of my focus in teaching you English will be on your accuracy and fluency in different situations like introducing yourself, ordering at a restaurant, booking a room at a hotel, using travel and airport vocabulary and so on and so forth. So, we’ll use real-life situations in the material and get you prepared for real English usage so that you aren’t caught off guard (that’s a phrasal verb – I can teach you those too) in the world when you need to use English with a native speaker in a native English speaking country.
