Hello, I’m Motoko Beam. I live with my American husband in Yokosuka City. Every week I meet new people from various English-speaking backgrounds and discuss a wide variety of topics including work, family, hobbies, personal opinions, travel and other topics native English speakers are interested in. I have English-speaking friends all over Japan, the US, England, Hong Kong, Canada, China, South Korea, Indonesia and France. I’m a native Japanese speaker and have a mostly American-sounding English accent that’s flowing and easy for native speakers to understand. I'm certified as language instructor in 2017 by the Canadian Institute of English and Applied Neuroscience, and obtained Bachelor's degree on Education in 2019. Since I regularly interact with many foreigners living and working in Japan I’m very used to explaining Japanese customs and behavior in the way that is easy for non-Japanese to process.
I’m patient and a good listener; I’ll help you practice challenging words and phrases until you feel confident and sound natural. I’ll give you kind but honest feedback on your progress as we work together. See you in class! :)
