Alison Naomi 프로필
Hi, I'm Alison! I'm half Japanese and half British. I was born in Japan but spent most of my childhood and adolescence in England. I now live in Osaka where my family are originally from.
What are my interests and hobbies?
My passion is to cook! I am a very creative person and constantly find inspiration to make something new. Living in Japan means I have some limitations on the ingredients I can buy so I always love the challenge to cook from what I can find locally. If you love cooking then I will be happy to talk about food with you!
In my free time, I like to watch films and documentaries, dance at live music shows, visit museums and galleries, listen to podcasts, and be in nature!
As a teenager, I worked for a Japanese tutoring company for several years where I tutored children in English and Mathematics. I then moved to Japan for a gap year which ended up being much more than one year. In that time I taught elementary-aged children at an international school, taught private lessons to adults, and I also ended up working as a manager of a bar!
After my gap year(s), I attended a university in London to study Anthropology whilst working part-time at a bar in my home town. I love being social and making new friends. I also have an interest in experimenting with cocktail recipes!
I returned to Japan a couple of years ago and have since worked with preschool/kindergarten children and now I am a freelance English teacher mainly teaching adult students and some high school students. I do some lessons for a major eikaiwa company in Japan where I teach one-to-one conversational lessons and business English. I also do private lessons with students where I meet them in person.
My teaching background covers all levels and ages, but across the board, I would say that I am very supportive. Whatever level you are at, I will cater to it and help you progress by continuing to challenge you and encourage you but at your pace.
I was also brought up to be bilingual, so if you would like Japanese assistance I can offer that as well!
What will our lessons be like?
Customising each lesson to your abilities and goals is my priority. I want each of my students to feel like they have learnt something new every lesson. However, the type of lesson is up to you! If you want me to be strict on corrections, I will make sure to pick up on your mistakes and explain them to the best of my ability. On the other hand, some students prefer a softer teaching style to help with their confidence. I will listen to what you would like and make sure to adjust my teaching style especially for you! I want you to feel confident and comfortable during our lessons together.
I also place a lot of importance on taking notes throughout lessons so that you can go back and see where you need to improve and what new words and phrases you have learnt. A detailed record is very valuable.
I'm not sure which lesson I should pick?
My recommendation for our first lesson together would be the Initial Consultation. This will be a great chance for us to break the ice and find out more about one another. It will also help me to understand what you want to from our lessons together!
The lessons that are currently available are most suited for students who are high school age and above. In the future, I may also offer children's lessons too.
