Hello! I'm Carol. Pleased to meet you!
SOMETHING ABOUT MEI have studied, lived, and worked in England for 8 years. I have a degree in Museum Studies, which I obtained in 2017. My day job is museum research: I work with museum professionals to research on various topics. Recently I have been researching on the history of mechanical clocks. Museum work is public-facing, and it really inspired me to share knowledge and communicate with people in plain language. That's my teaching philosophy.
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCEI grew up with teachers - my parents both taught in secondary schools and they set good examples for me. I tutored high school English when I was at university, and I was really good at that. I never stopped improving my English in any aspects - I took university-level English Writing, Oral English, Western Literature, Shakespearean Drama - and passed with high marks. I never majored in English, but my English level exceeds many of those majoring in English.
I have experience leading English study groups, and one that interested me most was a study group for the IELTS. I myself prepared and passed the IELTS. My scores were: Reading 8.0/Listening 8.5/Speaking 8.0/Writing 7.0/Overall 8.0. I would not have scored an 8 without the help of a friend, who practiced speaking with me and commented on my writings. I decieded to pay it forward, and started my study group for the IELTS. I ran the group for 6 months, and many of my students passed the IELTS because of my group.
You can count on me if you want to study and pass the IELTS.Living in England for the past 8 years was a completely different cultural experience. I have re-learned my English in the sense that I am thinking every-minute about how to use the language in my everyday life, my studies and work. I am very proud of myself that I was able to use English, my second language, to teach two university level course at University College London, where I studied for my Museum Studies degree.
