About me and my lessons :)

Hello and thank you for stopping by.

First thing you should know about me:
1) I am kind and understanding.
2) I am patient and lessons will be taught at your pace. I know that some of you might be shy and hesitant to use a language you are not confident in. I understand that and I am here to help.

I am from the tropical island of Jamaica. I arrived in Japan in April of this year and I have been living and woking here since. I have been teaching English for about 3 years now and I currently teach English an elementary in Tamamura where I aslo live.
On some weekend in my free time I  teach English to my neighbors and friends.

Learning is not one size fits all. By that I mean that we all learn differently. Myself for instance, I am an audio learner. This means that I can retain information simply by listening. Most of my students though are audiovisual learners. This just means they have to hear and see the information being taught to fully understand.

In my introduction session, I will use the time to assess your personality (and by extention your learning style) to better understand how to teach and motivate you.
This will also allow to to come with a persinalised solution that will be just be for you.

About my lessons:
Do you know how important punctuation marks are to the English Language? Take a look:
1) Let's eat father!       2) Let's eat, father!
In the first sentence the speaker intends to eat his or her father. In the second sentence however, the speaker is indicating to the father that it is time to eat. Puntcuation marks can change the meaning of a sentence.
Let's talk about punctuation marks.

Do you think leaders are born or made?
I taught leadership as an extracurricular course for 2 years at university. Some theories suggest that leaders are born, others say leaders are made. Well, wether or not you think you have leadership traits that you wish to hone or if you simply want to delevelope the confidence to do a little public speaking (from group projects at school to work projects), I can help you with that.
Let us talk about leadership.

Did you know that your Facebook audience is completely different from your Twitter and Instagram audience?
Let's talk about about social media. How to manage your profiles and gain followers. Learn where to post what information.

In the Open Conversation and Phrase class we can disccuss topics of your choice from your curiosities to your hobbies. This improves your conversational English while at the same time giving you a better idea and feel of native casual conversations.

I am happy to get your English where you want it to be.
