Gao Tutor Profile

This tutor is currently on leave.

Hello everyone! 大家好!
I'm Gao, a Japanese who has now been living in China for 7 years.
I studied Chinese while working here and now I teach Japanese to the Chinese staff.

Most of the staff can speak Japanese fluently, but due to some subtleties of expression there have been some misunderstandings and customer dissatisfaction. I, who was learning Chinese myself, personally came to realize that no matter how good you become at a foreign language you could not "defeat" your mother tongue.

You probably can't "master" Chinese in a short time, but you can learn enough to make yourself understood. In fact, in order to make yourself understood it doesn't take so much time.

Trying to attain perfect pronunciation may result in failure.
But if you have the feeling of "I made myself understood!" then you will have the motivation to continue.

Of course, if your aim is to "master," then you'd best study with a native speaker.
But when it comes to understanding detailed points it's definitely easier to understand and more effective to advance by asking questions in your mother tongue.

How can you become able to have conversations?
The secret to this is decidely, "Ask good questions".

Imagine trying to have a conversation with a reticent person...you get nervous, don't you? Even If you want to ask questions but don't know what to ask, obviously the conversation will end up in a stifled condition.

Even if you're not particularly good at a foreign language, if you are able to effectively ask questions then the conversation will flow and become more enjoyable for all involved.

In our lessons let's study pronunciation and vocabulary, but as a foundation, asking and answering questions!
