Would you like to speak English like a native?

A number of areas of spoken English are often overlooked in general language teaching, due to a number of factors, such as time restrictions and cultural differences.

These areas often apply to both formal and informal English.

Pronunciation-based factors, such as phonics, placement of stress, elision and intonation often take second place to grammar and vocabulary.

Additionally, more advanced techniques, such as regular and correct use of phrasal verbs and other idiomatic expressions can make you sound more natural and fluent.

Like many other languages, English is constantly changing, and educational institutions are slow to keep up with these changes.

What is taught nowadays does not necessarily reflect the language that is in common use in English-speaking countries, and what used to be termed “grammatically correct” can sound stiff and outdated in the “real” world.

Let me help you understand these differences, so you too can sound more like a native!

During the last year I took lessons with quite a few teachers at Cafetalk. Most of them are good teachers and their lessons were pretty enjoyable overall. Then somehow I came across Jim, I had my first lesson with him ‘Talk like a native’ ... impressive, he is the Teacher, a real one. In my past studies at the university, I was taught by top professors who were very well-versed in their own subjects, Jim sounds like one of them. He has got a great British accent, it is a pleasure to hear him speaking, The way he organized the lesson is professional and enjoyable.
