Description

English for Tour Guides

As the 2020 Olympics approach, the number of overseas visitors to Japan is likely to boom. Whether you are a professional or a volunteer; working as a tour guide can be very interesting and rewarding.  A great deal of unique words phrases and expressions are used in the field of tourism. As a guide for domestic tourists; you may know some of these in your own language.  But knowing tourist language in English will be very useful for an international tour guide.
This course will provide you with extensive tour vocabulary such as attractions, features, exhibitions, cultural artifacts, red-light district and shopping mall”. You’ll be armed with a range of suitable adjectives such as breathtaking, historic, magnificent, scenic, and superb, to make your talks interesting. I’ll provide you with a full list of questions which tourists may ask you and teach you how to respond with suitable answers. The course also contains many useful examples of tour statements  such as, Our next stop will be ………We are now standing in front of ……the building was recently restored …..you will notice a change in scenery soon. Most importantly, I will tailor the lessons specifically to the place where you are operating as a tour guide; or planning to do so. So let me know whether you are working in Yokohama or Hiroshima, Sendai or Sapporo, Gunma or Osaka. I have spent some time in most areas of Japan and I have a good knowledge of Japanese culture.

These lessons would suit you if you have at least Intermediate English skills. Please me where you currently live before our lesson. I'll try to focus my tour guide lessons on a city or town close to you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
