We reviewed some of the sentences we went through and the use of pinyin really helped to improve my pronouciation. Thanks !

Keih is a very patient tutor, which is a good quality for a beginner in chinese like me. I do appreciate the fact she's not gave up on my pronounciation until it was good enough to move forward in the lesson. She also provided me the pinyin translation of what we reviewed in the lesson so I would be able to practice on my own. Very good lesson overall, thanks, teacher !

I liked the lesson a lot. I had not studied Chinese for some time, but the teacher was very kind. I felt very well during class. Without a doubt, I want to continue with the lessons.

I’ve been taking this lesson for a few months now and I really like it. The textbook is easy to follow with useful exercises and Laoshi explains everything in a fun and memorable way. She also teaches me “real life” Chinese that’s not in the book and how to apply it to different situations. Laoshi goes above and beyond to make sure I’m progressing in Chinese. Love this class!

I enjoyed taking this lesson. At the same time, I learnt a lot of things! My Chinese level is still not high but teacher is very kind and patient. So I felt relax. I didn't hesitate to speak Chinese and ask questions. I would like to take this lesson again^^

I've been taking this lesson regularly for a couple months now and I highly recommend Zhang Laoshi if you get nervous speaking Chinese. She never pressures me and always makes me feel comfortable during class. What's also really helpful is that whenever she teaches me a new word, she types the hanzi and pinyin into the chat box on Skype so that I can go back and review it later. I always look forward to taking class with Zhang Laoshi :)

For today, we have planned to read two paragraphs from a history book and to discuss some short video clips from YouTube. Teacher Ann did a lot of hard work preparing to the lesson, probably even too much. Of course teachers should prepare to their lessons, but over-preparation usually makes the lesson too rigid, too inflexible. Both teacher and learner should remember that the bulk of preparation should be the responsibility of the learner.
When we finished with the text, and it was quite a difficult text, I was able to understand all the points I couldn't understand before, so I am very happy with that. It just took more time than I had expected. I think we could have done it faster if we were to go directly to the text.
The strong points of this teacher:
* knows how to prepare concept-checking questions;
* has a good pronunciation;
* explains stuff well;
* introduces the new vocabulary in the correct order; she doesn't elicit though, but personally I don't like this technique anyway, so it is not a minus;
Recommendations for this teacher:
* she needs to be even more mindful to grading her language (for the most part it was fine though); classroom language should always be at or below the language level of the learners, but never above it;
* when writing the lesson plan, she should not neglect the "anticipated problems" section; it is just as important as the "new material" section.
With all this critique, still above average though. Just could have been even better.

My first lesson with Mari was really great. I really enjoyed our lesson so much that the time really flew by. Mari introduced me to many new words and phrases in both Chinese characters and in pinyin and provided me with materials to assist me with my HSK Chinese Proficiency Test goals.

Thanks a lot, Mari Laoshi! My cousin and really enjoyed your class. She wanted to take your class again. No wonder why you're popular with Cafetalk students. Your class is a lot of fun!! I love how quickly you type everything. Both the characters and pinyin are included in your presentation so it's really easy for us to follow you in our class. Thanks a lot for a wonderful class experience. Xie xie, Laoshi! Regards, Jaja and Abby~ :))

Exactly what I'm looking for! I got the 10 lesson pack thing, sometimes we go over specific grammar points, and sometimes we practice conversation. It's very flexible!

The lesson with Mari was really good! I went for the 10 pack before a trial lesson, I have no regrets and I am on my third one right now! She is really encouraging and knows how to speak at so that I can understand her well.

Hi again Acky! I just want to express my gratefulness again to you and I think that this is the best time that other students would get to know a lovely tutor like you. Learning with you for a few months still keeping up my interest in Chinese. Instead of complaining that Chinese is quite hard to learn, you make me feel how much fun it is when I get to start speaking it myself. Although, I have quite a lot of Chinese friends Acky is still incomparable when it comes to patience and flexibility in teaching. Moreover, your review materials and follow up messages encourages me a lot. I'm still doing the revisions from those very organized review materials (pdf files and voice recordings), though. All thanks to you, Acky! Not to mention, I still remember your proposal for me to learn Chinese writing at the same time. I honestly couldn't wait to try that class soon. I even tried getting some books for it. Many thanks for inspiring me a lot, Acky!! Love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~ Jaja
