We had an interesting talk about my trips in Hokkaido. Umi-San is very thoutful teacher who can bring up good topics for me to practice how to express the stories in my brain. This is a very good practice because we always lack of chances for talking.Even in the travel, it's impossible to grab a stranger on the road to ask him to practice.

Enjoyable as always. In particular, I find it helpful that Umi-san takes some time at the beginning of each lesson to review grammar and vocab from the vocab.. Sometimes I feel like a bit slow as a pupil, but I appreciate that she takes her time with me, always going through things carefully to make sure I understand. :)

Umi was good at encouraging me to talk and was able to explain when I couldn't understand a word.

My first Japanese conversation with Umi-sensei was interesting, friendly and comfortable. Umi-sensei sent me a useful feedback after the lesson with words I didn't know and examples how to use them. Thank you!

A very good lesson as always. I'm on my phone so I won't be able to do as in depth a review as usual: I'll just say I feel like my conversational skills in Japanese, understanding of grammar and particles and general vocab retention feels like it's getting better with every lesson, which is awesome. It's a gradual process, but it's encouraging to me, and leaves me with the hope that... Er.... Hopefully by next winter I can take the JLPT N3. A bit of a lofty goal perhaps, but doable I think with these lessons as a resource, amongst other things. :)

The lesson went very well; we covered a lot of material, both from review and new material. I feel like I was a little bit more tired today then usual and thus a little bit slower to answer questions, identify problems in sentences and such: ごめなさい！ But Umi-sensei was very patient and didn't mind either waiting for me to answer questions, or answering them if I had any mid-conversation/problem. ありがとう ございます！ I'll try to be a little more awake if possible for next lesson: meanwhile however, this one was great and other then me being at less then my best, I have no complaints. These lessons are always a highlight in my week, and I eagerly anticipate the next one :)

Again a great lesson! Umi-san is a very pleasant person to talk to. She asks interesting questions and adapts to your level, so you can really practise conversation in Japanese. She provides very good feedback after every lesson, which is always useful and fun to read.

It's happened before, but the Skype audio kept cutting out during the conversation, which was a little bit frustrating: I didn't mind asking Umi-san to repeat herself and she gratefully didn't mind my asking, but it was a little frustrating all the same.
That was just on the technical side of things however, otherwise the lesson was enjoyable. We didn't go over as much textbook material this week, but we did spend more time working on applying the lessons learned from last week into casual conversation, which honestly is more helpful. It's a little bit tough as it forces me to use what I've learned and apply it to my own life rather just referring to the textbook, but it's an enjoyable challenge. It will certainly help me to go from just having a head full of vocab and grammar points to actually being able to USE them on a daily basis (hopefully) and in casual conversation, particularly if I do ever go to Japan.
So, yeah, great lesson as always; comes highly recommended.

Pretty good lesson, once again. There was a couple of vocab terms I forgot from the last lesson, but fortunately, I was very politely and kindly corrected as to my mistake. Moreover, I appreciate that we're going over things learned last week and not just going 'full steam ahead'; making sure I've learned and understood everything instead of trying to get through everything quickly. I'm grateful for it, and will be certainly more so once I get to later lessons with whom I may have a bit more of a challenge.
So yeah: again, it was quite an enjoyable lesson: if you're looking for a good tutor- and if you're a westerner, don't mind waking up early- Umi comes highly recommended :)

Pretty good; Umi-sensei was kind, patient with all my mistakes, and overall a thoughtful teacher. I appreciated how she took the time to get me to use any dialogue or vocab I've learned to use it within a personal context: not just describe Maerii-san or Robatoo san, but myself as well. Was a good lesson, and I quite look forward to my next.

I accidentally mixed up the time of the lesson and thus could only talk for 15 minutes, but she was SUPER understanding and gave me a refund in the form of a coupon to use later. Super nice, super friendly, highly reccomended.

Thank you for the wonderful lesson. I am sometimes nervous speaking Japanese but you made me feel at ease. When I couldn't think of the correct word you always waited for me and helped me. The notes in the chatbox are very useful. Thank you!

Took a JLPT N1 lesson. It was really nice to get feedback and answers about grammar that I wasn't comfortable with. Great teacher for people with a lot of questions.

It's been a while since I've done a free talk lesson so my conversational Japanese has deteriorated, but Umi-sensei led the conversation to topics I didn't know vocabulary for and gave me time to think of ways to say something when I got stuck. This not only helps me exercise the Japanese I do know, but gives me an idea of what topics I need to study vocabulary for (and of course I was given words and example sentences to help me along). いつもいつもありがとうございます！
