From Egg to Chick

Aug 5, 2017

Hello Everyone!

I hope you will enjoy this video I made. It will show you the process of how we grow a chick from an egg.

Here is a video for all of my students who want to see the process of how we hatch out chicks.

I added an image of an egg. There is no talking because I had to find an image because my camera wouldn't show the veins inside. Notice the red spot and the red lines inside the egg. This indicates that there is a live chick inside.

Some (possibly) New Terms:

Incubate - to keep (an egg) warm to bring it to hatch

hatch - (for a bird, fish or reptile) to emerge from its egg

embryo - an unborn or unhatched offspring in the process of development

pip - a small break in the shell that chicks make to breath before they hatch

100.9 degrees = 38.2 degrees celsius

90 degrees = about 32 degrees celsius

79 = about 26 degrees celsius

Unfortunately, 3 days after all of the little chicks were hatched and put outside, a predator came in the middle of the night and killed them all. This happens on farms sometimes, but it was still sad. :(

I hope everyone learns something new from this. Maybe someday you will be able to come and see the process yourself!

~Have a great day.
