New individual IELTS lessons

Jul 2, 2017

Hello everyone….. I would just like to take this opportunity to thank those of you that have taken lessons with me in the past. I would also like to let you all know that I have now introduced individual lessons for each part of the IELTS exam. I now offer lessons specifically focused on the speaking, reading, writing, and listening part of IELTS. Below, I have listed how I teach each part and there is a link to each lesson page so you can easily book the session that you want.

Speaking:

In this lesson, I will use genuine IELTS speaking questions (Parts 1, 2, and 3) from past exam papers. I will ask you a set of questions from each part and listen to your answer. While you are speaking, I will use the information you provide in your answer to write a corrected or improved version into the Skype chat box. After you have finished giving me your answer, I will explain any errors that you made and suggest my improvements. After the lesson is complete, you will have a Skype record of model answers that can be copied and pasted into a Word document for practicing offline. The vast majority of my students have managed to achieved at least 7.0 or higher using this method.

Reading:

In this lesson, I will send you a genuine IELTS reading article with questions before our lessons starts. During the lesson, I will read each paragraph and you can repeat after me to practice your pronunciation. I will then explain any difficult vocabulary in the article. After you have understood all of the text, we will start to answer each question and I will guide you on where to find the correct answer. The use of synonyms and synonomous phrases is popular in IELTS and so I will guide you on how to understand the question correctly and more importantly, where to find the relevant text. The majority of my students have increased their score using this method and have been able to achieve a higher than required pass mark.

Writing:

In this lesson, I will use sample questions for Task 1 and 2 writing questions. Before our lesson starts, I will send you some writing questions for both Task 1 and 2. In your own time, you can write an answer and send it back to me either before or during the lesson. I will go through your writing in the lesson and if you have used MS Word, I will correct your answer using 'Track Changes' and advise you on the use of improved vocabulary, grammar and phrases. If you have hand-written your answer, you can take a picture of the page with your smartphone camera or use a scanner and send it to me for correction. If you have not had time to write a sample answer, don't worry! We can look at a question during a lesson and I can give you some useful vocabulary and idioms, and we can write something together under my guidance.

Listening:

In this lesson, I will use real IELTS listening test material. I will send you the listening test before the lesson starts. During our lesson, we will listen to an IELTS listening test and you can answer all of the questions on the paper. After the listening is over, I will check your answers and replay the CD, pausing at each question point and explain why your answer was correct or incorrect. Students who have taken this class with me have been able to improve their score from 6.0 to 7.5+ in only a few lessons.
