日本を旅しよう＠和歌山県高野山

いつも　コラムを　読んでいただき　ありがとうございます。
もうすぐ4月。日本では　新年度が　スタートします。
私も　新しいことを　スタートしたいと思い、
「日本を旅しよう」のコラムを　書こうと思います。
これまで　私が旅行した中で　おすすめしたい場所を　紹介していきます。

April is almost here. A new term will start in Japan.

I would like to start something new,

I am going to write a column "日本を旅しよう".
I’d like to introduce a place that I have traveled to that I would recommend.

今回は　高野山（こうやさん）です。
This time, it is Koyasan.

高野山は　和歌山県に　あります。
主に３つのエリア
「金剛峯寺：Kongobuji」「奥之院：Okunoin」「壇上伽藍：Danjo Garan」に　わかれます。
2004年に　世界遺産に登録されました。

Koyasan is located in Wakayama Prefecture.

There are three main areas Kongobuji, Okunoin and Danjo Garan.

The temple was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2004.

金剛峯寺は　住職の住まいでもあります。とても広いです。
Kongobuji is the residence of the head priest. It is very spacious.

高野山は　弘法大師（こうぼうだいし）　空海（くうかい）が　初めてお寺を開いた場所です。

高野山の　「奥之院」には　空海の　御廟（ごびょう）があります。
御廟とは　先祖（せんぞ）の霊（れい）や　高貴（こうき）な人の霊が　祀（まつ）られている　ところで
ここは　聖地（せいち）と　言われています。

Koyasan is where the Kon-do Hall was constructed first by Kukai (posthumously known as Kobo Daishi).

The mausoleum is where the spirits of ancestors and noblemen are enshrined.

This place is said to be a holy place.

高野山には　100を超える　お寺があります。
お寺なので　神社でお参りする「二礼二拍手一礼」は不要です。
心を込めて　お辞儀をしましょう。

There are more than 100 temples in Koyasan.

They are temples, there is no need to do the "Bow twice, clap your hands twice, and then put your hands together and pray and bow again before you leave" that you would do at a Shinto shrine.

Just bow with all your heart.

この時期、日本は「衣替え」（ころもがえ）の季節。
冬服から春服にクローゼットから服を替えます。
実は、このお大師様も　年に１度　３月21日に衣服を取り替える
「お衣替え」が執り行われるのです。
４月上旬、この衣服のお下がりがもらえるのです！
「お衣切」（おころもぎり）と言って
最強の　ご利益アイテム、最強のパワーアイテムと言われています。

This time of year in Japan is the season of "koromo-gae" (changing of clothes).

People change their winter clothes to spring clothes from their closets.

In fact, once a year, on March 21, the Kobo Daishi also changes his clothes.

Every year on March 21, he himself changes his clothes.

In early April, some of his hand-me-down clothes are distributed to visitors to the shrine!
It is called "Okoromogiri".
It is believed that these is the most beneficial and the most powerful of clothing would bring renewed strength and energy to their new owners.
