The Little Prince Chapter 5 / 星の王子さま第5章

第4章をアップロードしてからしばらく日が経ちましたが（最近こればっかり言っているな）、星の王子さま、第5章を朗読したもの、編集がやっと完了しました。

このAudiobookプロジェクトをこちらでシェアしているのには幾つか理由があります。

技術的なことはさておき「物語を伝える」ということを皆さんの英会話で大切にしていただきたい。発音のレッスンをやっていますが、その性質上どうしても技術的な面だけに集中してしまいがちです。ただ発音とはそれだけで存在するのではなく（英語ではこれを____ doesn't exist in a vacuumと表現します）、それを会話で使うための道具としての目的があるはずです。これを忘れてしまうと「機械的・事務的」な話し方になり、どれだけ発音が上手でも聞いている側としては人間味を感じなかったり、更には発言内容とその表現にあまりにも隔たりがあるため相手にとってとてもわかりにくい英語になってしまうでしょう。
字面を追うのではなく「聴覚情報」から英語を理解する習慣をつけてもらいたい。

It has been more than a month since Chapter 4 was uploaded, but here is Chapter 5 from the book, The Little Prince.

For those of you who are curious enough to be wondering "why post Audiobook here?" I say:

I want my students to start focusing on non-technical aspects of English pronunciation/intonation. Namely, the story-telling aspect. Pronunciation doesn't exist in a vacuum, but is rather used as a mere tool to convey your message to another person. You can get all the consonants and vowels right, but at the end of the day, if you sound like a robot, people will have a hard time understanding what you really want to say.
I want my students to start paying attention to auditory information as opposed to visual information of the English language.
I just like doing it.
