Mariya Takeuchi 竹内 まりや Plastic Love

One of my favorite musical pieces is Plastic Love by Takeuchi Mariya! I first heard this song a few years ago on Youtube. It was a recommended song after I listened to some other songs from the city pop genre.

It was released over 30 years ago, but I think it's a timeless song that still sounds great today. Takeuchi's voice is smooth and relaxing, and the melody of the song gives me energy to work harder. 

I would like to find other Japanese songs to enjoy especially from the city pop genre! Do you have any suggestions?

    Josh, that's such a lovely song. Thanks for sharing here. It seems to have had somewhat of a mini-renaissance on Youtube recently :)

    Hello M.S., I have heard of Tatsuro Yamashita because I read that he is married to Mariya Takeuchi :) However, I don't recognize the other names you mentioned, so thank you very much! I will listen to their music on Youtube. Have a nice day!

    Hi You've probably heard their names, but how about Anri (杏里), Eiichi Ohtaki(大瀧詠一）Junko Yagami(八神純子）and Tatsuro Yamashita(山下達郎）?
